Iran’s ‘Slaughter’ to vie at Beijing fest

Iranian short ‘Slaughter’ is to compete at the 18th Int’l Student film and video fest in Beijing.

Iran’s short film ‘Slaughter’ has been selected to vie at the 18th edition of the International Student Film and Video Festival (ISFVF) in Beijing.

Co-directed by Saman Hosseinpour and Ako Zand-Karimi, the short narrates the story of a family in a village in Iran. Facing a tough winter, father of the family, Qasem, decides to sell their only cow. The son who is emotionally attached to the cow lets it loose to stop the slaughter.

The short has vied in several festivals including the Gollut Festival in Spain, the 26th PUBLICYSTYKA international film festival in Poland, the 18th Villammare Film Festival in Italy, at Duhok International Film Festival in Iraq and the Crossing the Screen Film Festival in the UK.

ISFVF is held once a year and aims to screen selected titles from different countries. It provides the audience and the filmmakers with a chance to communicate.

The fest is slated for October 20-27, 2019.
